South Korea’s women’s archery team won its seventh straight Olympic title on Sunday, scoring a nine on the final arrow to defeat China in the gold-medal match. That the archers did it while dressed like they were on their way to the Best Coast show in Williamsburg was an even greater achievement.
The three women on Korea’s dominant team won gold wearing plaid bucket hats, pink and white buttoned-up shirts, beaded bracelets and black-rimmed glasses. One even had a vest that depicted small Korean girls shooting arrows, the ultimate in self-referential hipstertude.
